6 Star Diamond Elite Beach Body Coach Success Story

I have definitely had a couple crazy months recently and I have been working a couple extra hours, sacrificing a little sleep, but now that qualification period is over, those few hours sacrificed has paid off!!
I am so thrilled to share exactly what this excitement is all about!!
So most of you know about me, but just for those of you who are new at visiting my blog, I am a mother of 2 amazing boys ages 18 months and my oldest will be 3 in 2 weeks! They are my life! I also have an amazing husband who at one time wanted nothing to do with health and fitness until I had a transformation.. He now is involved with everything I do to maintain my healthy lifestyle! I am a nurse who is just so passionate about helping others. Something I added just 1 year ago into my life was starting a new career as a Beach Body coach. My job is to help others live a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.  I educate people on clean eating, along with exercise so everyone can get the most out of their journey. I started this journey of coaching when I was going through my own transformation. I was in a challenge group (support group through Beachbody) using Insanity and Shakeology, and was so happy with my results I was getting and how much energy I had! My cravings were gone after using Shakeology, and I was just feeling different than I ever did with any diet I tried.  What really hit the spot with coaching, was my results were not just a phase or diet I was on... this was something that you can live off of.. its a lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise.  I wanted to share my journey and transformation with others so they can see its real.. it is not just another fad diet. I also realized you can exercise as much as you want, but if you do not have the nutrition part down, your results will not show.  After changing my nutrition, that is when my results were most evident to myself and everyone around me.  
I ended up losing 40 lbs and 25 inches! This was from start to finish usingInsanity, Turbo Fire, P90X, and theUltimate Reset. I also incorporated Shakeology, our health shake meal replacement every single day. I know nutrition can be tough to plan, so this was something that worked so well for me.  One less meal to plan and purchase at the grocery store!
Since I had my transformation, I really got into coaching and have been helping so many people! I set new goals for myself and one thing I did not do was set big goals.. I was the type of person who is afraid of writing something down and not accomplishing them, so I would not write my huge push goals because of the fear of failure.  I wanted to feel that sense of accomplishment and I knew if I didn't write them down, I would not be let down if I didn't make those goals... Do you ever feel like that?? 
Let me say its the worst thing to do! If you do not write your goals down, there is no sense of urgency. You need to give yourself deadlines, that importance, and accountability to yourself to reach what is truly important to you.  I know this because once I finally wrote them down, I worked harder than ever, and stayed committed to my goals. I was consistent and didn't give up until I reached them!
Now that sense of accomplishment is so much better because those huge goals I once thought were impossible are now met and it's time to make bigger goals!
I want to mention 2 of my goals that were too big for me to write down and mention my other goals that i did write down.

My goals I did not write until just 4 months ago: 
5 star and ELITE by Dec 2013.  


Month by month, I was getting very slowly showing progress, but it was honestly not until I wrote my big goals down, that everything was changing before my own eyes... more people asking me to help them reach their health and fitness goals, people wanting to coach with me on my team and help others, and my paychecks increasing each week.  I was growing as a coach, leader, and person! I have been learning more about myself than I ever have.. how to communicate with others, and how to really put others before myself.  One of the greatest accomplishments though is also having my family included in all of this.  Supporting me and being healthy with me and allowing me to take the time to help others. 
Since I had so many people that had the same passion for helping people, I ended up creating my own team which is now called Forever Fit! It's all about living that healthy lifestyle and making it something that is long term vs something just  temporary.  We are in this for the long run.  

So what is Forever Fit all about? Forever Fit started with me wanting to help anyone who was willing to get healthy.. I ran challenge groups to help people stay accountable and motivated to reach their goals.  Many of these challengers are the ones who ended up joining my team because they saw this is exactly what they needed to have that lifestyle they have wanted. As my friends and acquaintances saw what I was doing, they became interested and wanted to have the opportunity to make a career with health and fitness... they wanted a job they would love.  So as more and more coaches joined me, we became one team.. Forever Fit!! The coaches on my team have taken time to help others, to dedicate themselves to live this healthy lifestyle themselves. It has not been always easy for all of us, but in the end, we can all say this is such a rewarding career and not one of us would trade in this opportunity that was given to us!

I have now added over 30 coaches to my team and have over 100 members and it is growing faster than ever! This did not happen because of me... this happened because of my amazing coaches who are so committed to their health, along with helping others with doing the same exact thing.. GETTING HEALTHY!  It's all about promoting health and preventing illness and diseases! We are adding years to people's lives just by educating and motivating!! 

Since growing my team to something so amazing, I can now say my goals have been reached... Not just the 2 star I wrote down, BUT the 5 star ELITE... Actually, I went a little further and went to 6 star Elite! I have to recognize my amazing Diamond coaches who have helped make this happen.. Who have put in lots of work, dedication, and consistency to get to this Diamond status!

Michael Gowan: Michael was my first Diamond coach that works full time, is a full time father of 2 awesome boys and he is also my cousin! He not only has a passion for health and fitness, but also for personal development.  He is definitely the preacher type.. Someone you can always rely on to brighten up your day, but also take you to reality and help you see the greater things in life.. to be thankful for what you have.  He went to Diamond in just 90 days! 

Jen Morris: Jen is a stay at home mommy of 2 amazing boys, 1 which was diagnosed with Autism.  Jen has spent so much time with figuring out the best ways to make her son less symptomatic with this illness. I will say she has done such an amazing job.  She has officially been nominated by me as the Queen of clean eating!  She has practicing with clean foods, raising her own animals so her food has absolutely no chemicals that can affect her son's behavior and illness.  This is helped her with having her son on less medication and his illness is more controlled, thanks to her dedication to her family.   Jen went diamond in less than 60 days!! This is crazy, and something not many people are able to achieve!

Alisha Smith: Alisha is yet another amazing coach who literally surprises me every week with an awesome come back.  She started as just a challenger wanting to see her fitness and health results.  As she started using beach body workouts and Shakeology, the challenge group gave her so much motivation that she totally blew it out of the water with her results.. She has lost over 40 lbs and 40 inches!! She could use soooo many excuses for not following through.. she is a full time mommy of 4 (youngest being less than 1 yr old), she owns her own bakery (yes I said it, BAKERY), she is a full time Spanish teacher, and now is coaching with Beach body full time! HOLY man is this is busy momma!!! She lets NOTHING get in her way! She is so dedicated and committed to her health and family, it's unreal!!  She also became a Diamond right around 60 days!!

Andrea Youngblood: This girl right here was one of my first coaches who wanted to coach as a career.  She is not only a mommy of 2 amazing sweet little boys, but is also a full time nurse.  Yes, we work together at 2 jobs! She sees enough of me that is for sure lol!! But she started coaching after getting great results with P90X and wanted to incorporate Shakeology and other workout programs and help others on their journey as well!! She has made such an awesome team for herself and is definitely more of the teacher type!! She has had an amazing transformation as well!! Andrea is such a go getter and love that she will take on any challenge that comes around! 

Lauren Penrose: Lauren is a mommy of a beautiful little girl Nora, a Physician's Assistant, and also my sister in law! She has lots of knowledge on health and fitness and wanted to apply it even more to help people get healthy, so she decided to coach on my team and has been so successful! She has reached Diamond rank just in around 60 days! Lauren being a new mommy, and a full time PA still has dedicated herself so much to helping others make that healthy lifestyle for themselves! I am so excited to say she is now going part time as a PA to focus on being at home with her daughter and work from home as a health and fitness coach with Beachbody! So proud of you!! 

Cody Penrose: Cody is my husband of 4.5 years, my rock, and my support.  Although he was not always supportive of me taking hours away from family to work on the computer, he has seen a huge change in me.. He sees the excitement when I get a challenger's result that they have lost a number of inches or pounds, or when one of my fellow coaches rank advanced.  He sees the passion in me with this career and knows I am so thankful this opportunity came for me to officially stay at home with my children!

Yes, I said it.  After 1 year of working as a mommy, nurse, and Beach body coach, I have achieved my goals of 6 star ELITE Diamon, ranked #109 out of over 140,000 coaches, and am able to quit my job as a nurse and work only from home! I will say I will never completely quit my job as a nurse, because I love helping people and having that interaction and communication with others is so rewarding, but I am so happy to be able to work relief. I will work when I want, and have the best of both worlds being home with my kids, while still working as a coach to help everyone!

I do want to mention a huge part of my success came from my up line coach and cousin Melanie Mitro. She has been there for me the entire way throughout my journey.  She is the #2 coach in the Beach body company and the founder of the Dream Team.  Yes, I am still a part of this team! It is awesome to have a mentor to guide you into the right direction, which is exactly what I learned to do.. Be a leader and mentor for my own coaches to help them grow.

You do not have to be a nutritionist, a personal trainer, but you do have to have the motivation to motivate others!!

New Year Weekly Meal Plan/Exercise Plan

So, its the New Year and a fresh start! It's time to put away the cookies, cake, and ice cream, and start making new goals!! I know most of you have probably set new health and fitness goals.  I want this year to be different for you!! As some of you know, only 30% of the population actually follow through with there goals.. the other 70% fall off the wagon within a couple months and many within 2 short weeks.  It's difficult, and takes a lot of dedication and consistency, which is why I run my challenge groups.  
Challenge groups?!?  Your probably asking, what the heck are those right?!
As a health and fitness coach, I work with my challengers 1:1 to help them reach their goals.  I add them into a closed group on face book where only the people in the group can see and every day, I provide tips, recipes, and also give meal plans to help you stay accountable and motivated to reach your ultimate goals! 
What are the requirements? 
This is very simple.  I have each challenger use any home DVD program of their choice from beach body, along with clean eating, and replacing 1 meal a day withShakeology, our health shake meal replacement.  Each fitness program comes with a schedule and nutrition plan, so you will have tons of ideas to use for your journey with clean eating! There are also different intensity levels, so depending on if you are a beginner, intermediate, or more advanced, there is a program out their to fit your needs!
Shakeology comes in different flavors.  You have your chocolate (MY FAV) for your chocolate lovers, Green berry (people who are juicers LOVE this), our newest flavor Vanilla (amazing and you can make so many recipes with it), and we also have Vegan Strawberry and Chocolate! When I first heard of Shakeology by my cousin, Im not going to lie, I thought she was just trying to sell me something.  Since I was looking to lose 40 lbs, I figured, WHY NOT?! What's is the worst that can happen..  I would just be in the same position.. So I gave it a whirl, and soooo thankful I did! I would not be anywhere near my results if I have not started in a challenge group using Insanity and Turbo Fire, and drinking Shakeology on  regular basis.  Within 2 weeks, I was seeing a huge difference! Since incorporating the fitness programs, clean eating, and Shakeology, I have reached my fitness goals and am now sharing my experience with others! 

In my challenge groups, I have each participant take before and after photos and measurements so they can best track their progress.  You would be surprised with the results you get, rather than just going by the mirror and scale.  These true measurements are the most important, other than how you feel inside!! 

Starting Jan 6th, I am running not only 1 group, but 2! My first group is called New Year, New You! Yes, it sounds cliche', but I feel people truly do make lifestyle changes in my groups and feel like a new person! This group allows each individual to pick their own fitness program to use during the challenge.
My second group is actually my first test group! P90X3 is our newest fitness program out their and is absolutely AMAZING!! There are so many things I love about this program.  It is only 30 minutes long, incorporates both cardio and weight training, and is a high intense workout, but has amazing modification, so literally ANYONE of any level of fitness can use this!  I am doing this program with my challengers so am including myself in this test group! I started using the workouts so I can help everyone better explain it, and every new DVD I use ends up being my new favorite! They are all awesome and give me an amazing workout!

I am sooo excited for these 2 challenge groups to get started because I can smell results from here!! 

As I mentioned above, I help my challengers with meal planning. I make a meal plan every Sunday to give them a guide to use (will differ, depending on caloric intake) and different ideas.  I have been making my own meal plans for quite some time, and love how it works with my body! You will notice I cook a large amount of the same food.  I do this for 2 reasons.. I save time and $$!
I try to be as frugal as I can, without jeopardizing my health.. I know my body comes first because if I do not have health, I have nothing!

FREE Clean Eating 101 Group

Hey ya'll! So I know starting a new fitness journey can be somewhat discouraging, especially if you are not familiar with clean eating and nutrition. But don't worry.. I promise there is help for you out there! As a health and fitness coach, I am here to provide support, guidance, and lots of great tips to help you reach your goals!
I will say from experience, I had such a hard time reaching my fitness goals on my own.. I needed support, and someone to keep me accountable so I didn't fall off track so easily.  After having my second child, I ended up joining a Beachbody Challenge group where I received 1:1 mentoring from a coach like myself, and absolutely LOVED the results I got! Not only physically, but learning so much about food was the best thing that I gained! I lost 40 lbs, but had this huge gain of knowledge to take with me and share with others on how to eat clean and live a healthy lifestyle for you and your family.  I gained confidence, and will power I never though I would ever have!
Now it is time to give back. After getting my results, I became a health and fitness coach and have helped over 50 people reach their health and fitness goals.  I run challenge groups to give you 1:1 support and mentoring to help reach any goal you may have.  I have seen so many lifestyle changes that are so incredible and touching.  People have quit smoking, got off medications for Crohn's disease, Hypothyroid, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Migraines.  A huge factor that had helped my challengers with their weight loss and health goals is incorporating our health shake meal replacement Shakeology. This is not a weight loss shake, nor just a protein shake.  You get a daily dose of dense nutrition along with your multi vitamin all in one shake.

Pretty awesome huh?? Literally it is like a miracle in a bag!! Meal planning has been my life saver. I can not stress it enough how important it is to prepare yourself each week. Having my food prepared gives me hope every day that I cannot make excuses because everything is already right in front of me! Im definitely a NO EXCUSES kinda girl. I feel if you want something bad enough, you will do what it takes!
So here we are... I am opening a FREE clean eating group 7 days long to get you started in the right direction.  I started this last month and had amazing results! We had over 100 challengers in it, and I want to share just a few challenger's results:

Challenger 1    -9 lbs
Challenger 2    -7 lbs
Challenger 3    - 5 lbs
Challenger 4    -3 lbs
Challenger 5    -1.3 lbs (pregnant and wanting to get healthy!)

Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Muffins

Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Muffins

Ingredients:

1 cup egg whites

1 cup almond chocolate milk


¼ cup raw cacao powder


¼ cup pb2 powdered peanut butter


¼ cup pure maple syrup


2 medium bananas mashed


2 cups oats


Directions:

Mix well and fill greased or lined muffin tins. Bake at 350 for 

15-20 minutes. Store in refrigerator.


What an easy recipe that helps those peanut butter and 

chocolate cravings!! This can be a breakfast, snack, or 

dessert!

Nothing like a great start to a new year! We just had an amazing turn out for Super Saturday this weekend! Lots of motivation, success stories, and friends from all over!! I am so excited to share what being a BEACH BODY COACH is all about!

So we started the weekend off with Saturday morning at the Sheraton hotel with over 350 coaches and guests at our event! How crazy is that?!? Our super Saturdays started with 30 people or so, and now we are growing and the room is full of people wanting to help people live healthy and fulfilling lives!

This is where I get motivated.. Its my passion. I listen to real people speak about their transformation with using Shakeology and other Beach body programs to reach their ultimate goal, but change their entire outlook on life!  I listen to people speak about how they started as a coach and were so financially unstable, they were not sure how to even make ends meet... but with persistence and dedication to what is important to them, they made it happen. They coached people and changed lives.. They improved their own lifestyle. They work hard every day, and now have financial freedom that they never thought was possible at one time.  This financial freedom is not from going to a 4 year degree program at a University. This is simply from working as a Beach Body coach.. working from home, making your own hours, talking to people about your passion, about health and fitness, eating healthy, making small improvements in your every day life to see big changes with time.  
We also had recognition for our 2013 Premier and Elite Beachbody Coaches!! So proud to say I was included in this as a 5 star Elite!!

After our recognition and speakers, we had an amazing Insanity workout!! If anyone has trouble finding an intense workout, I dare you to try Insanity!! It's amazing and how I got a lot of my results!! Although it is so intense, its a workout, I cannot seem to steer away from!

I had a few of my coaches travel 3 hours away just to be a part of this Super Saturday and am so thankful to have these ladies on my team! They are committed and such amazing coaches! Also, to the right is another team who is so awesome too! Kaileigh, who has become such an amazing friend, is the creator of Revelation Fitness.  It is so great to get teams together and all have the same passion and purpose for being here!

As a health and fitness coach, it is so fun to be able to work from home, in your workout clothes, and just talk to everyone around the US! If you decide you want to take a day off, guess what?!? You can and no one is going to tell you otherwise!! 

So after our Super Saturday, we had a 15 star dinner for Melanie Mitro for going 15 star!! We got to dress  up and celebrate with just us!! We had our significant others with us and it was so relaxing!

Mediterranean Pasta Salad

Oh how I loved this meal!! Mediterranean food is one of my small obsessions.. Ok BIG obsessions!! You may notice I have lots of recipes that include feta cheese and Kalamata olives in my recipes... I cannot help myself!!
So when I went home to Pittsburgh to visit my mom, I tend to bring home a new recipe for everyone to try. So I decided to make Clean Parmasean Chicken, Kale salad, and this awesome Mediterranean Pasta Salad!! Holy yummy!! This definitely got the job done for me!! 

Mediterranean Pasta Salad

Ingredients:
1 Box 100% whole wheat spaghetti noodles
1/2 cup Kalamata Olives 
1 6 oz container Feta Cheese
2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tsp Himalayan salt
1 tsp Black pepper
1 tbsp fresh Basil
1 cup diced baby tomatoes

Directions:
Cook spaghetti as directed on box
After spaghetti cools off, add all other ingredients into large bowl.

Week 4 P90X3 Meal plan/Exercise Plan

After the weekend, Im so ready to be back on track! I did not totally fall off, but we had my son's 3rd birthday party and it did involve pizza, an amazing cake, and ice cream! Not going to lie, I am human and I ate some!!  And I enjoyed every bit!! HAHA!

So I am back to normal and the bloating is already going away.. Its crazy how different your body feels like eating bad for just one day!
This week, I am using some of my meals that I had on the21 day Ultimate Reset, which is a 21 day strict cleanse! I still follow lots of the recipes because they were so good and really helped me reach my goals!
Yesterday, it was grrocery shopping, prep day, and cooking up all my meals! I love having these days so I can prepare myself for the entire week.  I save so much time during the week cooking and trying to figure out what I want.

Here is a look at my weekly meal plan! I am definitely strict and will not have any cheat meals this week.. Usually I give myself one, but I had 2 meals off this week, so I'm catching back up! :)

Do you think I had enough tomatoes?!  I definitely need to start looking in my fridge before I write what I need from the store!  Looks like I will be making lots of home made clean ketchup!! ;)-

This gives me NO excuses for passing up a meal, or going to fast food instead!
You also will notice that I cook a lot of the same meals each week.. this helps me save of time and money as well so I am not buying as many groceries! I learn to be frugal, but smart with my food choices too!
I have my Quinoa Salad and Greek Salad which are both from the Ultimate Reset, raw peppers and raw cucumbers to have with hummus.. I use either roasted red pepper or my favorite supremely spicy! I need a little kick in my food! :)

I also prepped for my hubby, so I made lots of HoneyDijon Pork Chops, chicken for my Brushetta Chicken recipe (MY FAV), and some sweet potatoes!
Now, my entire family is set for the week!
Although it is not shown, we also are using Shakeology once daily as one of our meals! I usually use it as my 2nd meal of the day, which actually my hubby does for either his 2nd meal or his lunch. It works out really well for us and have found to have lots of energy and less cravings for chocolate!






This morning, I woke up at 5 am to get in my workout even though I was off work and if felt great!! I feel so much more ahead of the game when I wake up early to get started with my day!!
I am currently doing the P90X3 program which is perfect for me because I love a variety of weight training, cardio, and yoga so I am getting it all!! Today was Isometrics and it was great! Definitely have to improve on a few moves, but I loved every minute of it!

Each week, I feel stronger and stronger, along with becoming more flexible again! I am always trying to improve myself in different ways, so here is an example of what I do.. I swear I was not able to do this last week!

Clean Buffalo Cauliflower Bites

So I'm a spicy kinda girl and LOVE hot sauce on almost anything! So instead of eating one of my old favorites, buffalo wings, WHY NOT make a clean recipe out of it?!
Sometimes, its hard for me to get all my veggies in, well certain veggies that is.. I have a hard time with carrots, celery, and cauliflower.. I needed to find a way to get these in without taking the meaning of healthy away from it.  Buffalo Cauliflower bites was the way to go!!


CLEAN BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER BITES

Ingredients:
1/2 head cauliflower, crumbled into bite size pieces
1/2 cup almond flour
3/4 cup almond milk
2 tsp garlic powder
Himalayan salt and crushed black pepper to taste
1 cup Sriracha chili sauce (My favorite hot sauce EVER)
2 tbsp EVOO

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 F
Whisk together flour, milk, garlic powder, 1/2 cup sriracha, salt and pepper until smooth (if its too clumpy, you may need to add a little more milk)
Dunk your cauliflower bites
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and drizzle EVOO on it
Use a spoon to place bites onto paper
Pour remaining of sauce on top and bake for 20 min
When cauliflower bites are done, take out and add the 1/2 cup sriracha and 2 tbsp EVOO to the top and bake for another 5 minutes.

Serve with Clean Ranch Dressing and celery if you wish!!

Ingredients:

  • 2 small-to-medium spaghetti squash
  • 1 (8oz) package of cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup Frank's Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 large chicken breast or 2 medium chicken breast, cooked and shredded
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
For Ranch dressing:
1 dry Ranch Packet Mix (I use Hidden Valley)
1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 skim milk

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cut Squash in half length wise and put on plate upside down (round part up) and cook in microwave for approx 12 min or until soft inside
  3. Allow the spaghetti squash to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  4. While you are letting the spaghetti squash cool, prepare the buffalo chicken by place the cream cheese and the hot sauce in a large saucepan. Allow the cream cheese to completely melt.

5. Add in the ranch dressing and chicken breasts.

6. Scoop out the insides of the spaghetti squash.

7.  Place the buffalo chicken on top of the spaghetti squash and sprinkle with the cheddar cheese.

8. Bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese has completely melted.

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 whole egg
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup low-fat or non fat milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 
  • 1/2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

Pour the batter on to a non stick pan using olive oil spray.  Keep the heat at medium to medium high. (Be sure not to put on high to prevent burning)

Cook until they are cooked through and serve, topped with your favorite toppings.

I used  3/4 cup plain Greek Yogurt and 1 cup fresh blueberries and top off the a drizzle of Pure Maple Syrup!!

*Feel free to add 1 cup Fresh blueberries in your mixture if you would like! This image above shows the blueberries mixed in! The kids LOVE THEM!!! 



How to Stay Healthy During the Super Bowl Weekend!

There are parties everywhere, along with tempting food and alcoholic beverages! Two things that can totally ruin your hard work that you put in during that week! Literally you go 1 step forward to potentially 2 steps back!
So its time to think about your goals, WHY you want to achieve your goals, and think about HOW important they really are to you.. What will you do to reach your goals? Will you do whatever it takes??
A great way to figure out if this lifestyle change is truly a big importance to you is by figuring out what you are willing to do to get there...
For instance, say you on top of a building and you are asked to walk a tight rope across with the potential of falling off, BUT you would get paid 100$.. Most likely that 100$ is not worth it right??
Now say you are in the same position on top of a building, but your child is on the other side and a fire is starting... Not offering 100$ anymore, would you do it?? Most loving and caring parents would not question walking that rope to get their child.
This shows you if something is important enough for you, you will do what it takes.  But you have to have an important WHY behind your goal!

I know its the perfect time to party.  But I need to ask, do you have to eat and drink in order to have a great time??
Are your current cravings more important than your long term goals?
If you can stay strong and give yourself 100% commitment and dedication, those small sacrifices you make will get you a long way to HUGE SUCCESSES!!


So just a few tips to keep in mind this weekend:
-Do NOT go to a party hungry! I will usually have a SHAKEOLOGY Shake prior to a party so I am not tempted for food or snacking.. It also helps me with my cravings
-WATER WATER WATER! I take water and extra bottles everywhere I go!! This way if I am at a party and they do not have water, I am not out of luck!
-Pack healthy SNACKS! I usually have Quest bars (protein bars you can get at GNC), string cheese, almonds, and dry edamame in my purse in case of an emergency!! If you do not carry a purse, keep them in your car! The last thing you want is to want to stay on track,  but not have anything readily available for you!!

When your out at a party and everyone wants you to dig into wings, fried food, and desserts, it is important for you to take the lead, be responsible for yourself and your actions and say NO THANK YOU. You are not being rude for wanting to be healthy and if they are your true friends and important people in your life, they will understand this is important to you. Its YOUR health, NOT theirs!

This is very important! We do not realize how fast alcohol adds up our caloric intake.. I'm talking beer, shots, and mixed drinks!! Of course, the fruity drinks have tons of sugar and artificial sweeteners.. that's a NO NO!
Here is an example of your alcoholic beverages and how they add up.








So for those of you who are not drinkers, I want to make you aware of the non-alcoholic beverages that also add up your calories fast! I know many people think regular pop is not good for you, so they move right to DIET... I have news for you.. This is NOT any better!! Actually there are MORE chemicals, and the artificial sweeteners are terrible for you!! It will effect your mind (concentration), your energy, your cravings will increase, and you may find yourself getting frequent headaches.. This is also why you get headaches when trying to stop using diet drinks because your body is so use to them and is withdrawing from it.  As bad as it sounds, it is a DRUG!

I think I made my point with how much liquid calories add up, but I have to make sure I do not miss anything and help you understand this as much as possible!
So now onto food!! I already said about the fried food and desserts we all know are a NO NO right?! So one thing I personally do is when I bring a tray, I make it healthy! I am not only making this for me, but making an attempt to help others be healthy also! I have made anything from huge Greek salads to dips such as Quinoa layered dip, to desserts such as black bean brownies!! Yes, they ALL end up turning out perfect and being a hit!!
If you do not have any healthy options, the next best thing is to PORTION CONTROL!! I know our taste buds get excited, but it is important for us to be in control! I keep a motivational picture and quote on my phone that I can pull out any time I want to binge or give in.  It truly helps if you actually pull it out when needed.

It is time to think smart, and eat smart.. I was very skeptical on using Shakeology because it was 129$ every month.. But I knew within the first month, I was getting great results along with getting all these health benefits.  So what I did was went to the grocery store with my list and looked at all the ingredients I was getting for a meal.. For instance, I had 1 green pepper, 1 cucumber, kalamata olives, feta cheese, spinach, 1 piece of chicken, tomatoes, and a sweet potato..


If you add these up you will come up with 17$ and you will have a salad for 4  days… Even if you take 17 x 7.5 (30 days in a month and getting even the salads alone every 4 days) is 127.50…

Ingredients:

1 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp sea salt (I use Himalayan)

2 cups chopped white onion

1 tsp oregano

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 medium green bell peppers, minced

4 14.5 oz cans of organic diced tomatoes with chiles

8 cups organic, low-sodium chicken broth

2 cups frozen corn

2 lbs uncooked boneless skinless chicken breasts

¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (to top off)


Directions:

1. In a large slow cooker, combine all ingredients, stirring frequently to make sure ingredients are mixed evenly.

2. Heat on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.

3. Shred chicken 


4. Top off with Mozz cheese
5. SERVE AND ENJOY!

One goal that I change every so often is my goal body.  I set small goals to reach my larger goals in the long run.  I have reached my goal weight, and maintained for a while (about a year), but want to change things up.  I really want to tone, so in order to lose the last 5 or so pounds, I need a strict nutrition regimen, along with a workout program that works well for me.

I no longer have to pull my kids out of the house to drive to a sitter so I can go to the gym!






Yesterday was day 1! Sunday I had all of my food prepped and ready to go for the week! I had made my meal plan ahead of time, went to the grocery store and got all my goodies, and cooked everything! I spend about 3-4 hours total getting all my meals ready for the week. It sounds like a long time, but I save lots of time during the week and lots of money by sticking to the same foods every week.. I like to keep things simple.. Its easy to follow and easy to remember what I am eating every day.  Here is what my meal plan looks like this week!

And then the prepping!! I honestly LOVE to cook now! It use to be something I felt was a waste of time and was not good at it... Until I made goals.  I knew eating out at restaurants was not healthy, no matter where you went! Foods are cooked with so many extra calories its crazy! I decided, I am not wasting my calories that way.. I want to reach my goal and now that I cook for myself, I enjoy it! I also think I enjoy it more because I know its the best thing for me and my family!

They looked extremely small when I took them out of the box and all I thought to myself was "How in the world am I going to be full off these portions!?"

As I was cooking my food and actually putting what I thought was a portion size in the container, I was pleasantly surprised that I was pretty much on with the portions! So for example, one of my current snacks is 3 hard boiled eggs and an apple.. That was a meal on here, but looking at the containers, I didn't think my normal portions would fit and they did!

I am still eating lots of my every day foods- Chicken, fish, salmon, stir fry veggies, eggs, Quinoa and brown rice!

I think the hardest part is not using additives to cook with.. So I am only using EVOO twice daily. No condiments on my food either! That is tough because I am a HUGE condiments LOVER!! But that may be the key for me to lose this last 5 pounds! We know its the hardest to lose the last couple!

 Day 1 went well!! I was a little distracted without having my E&E to drink ( beach body's Pre workout formula with natural flavors and vitamins) but I made it through!
I am drinking 1 gallon of water a day.. YES gallon!! It is in the books and I am going by it! Its a great way to cleanse your body and take away all that extra bloating that is not needed!!
In order for me to enjoy an entire gallon, I am using lemon in my water to help me out! Makes it so much fun when I am drinking something other than plain water all the time lol! Nothing like spicing it up with some fresh fruit also!!
This may sound silly but one way I am getting my water in is having chugging contests with my friends! Yes, even at my nursing job! We chug water to make sure we are ahead of the game! NO SLACKING HERE! :)

How often am I eating?
During the 21 day Fix, I am eating every 2 hours.  Since I wake up so early and do not go to bed right when I should, I try to make it every 2.5 hours, which works for me much better!

What do I do when I get hungry and its not time to eat?
I am not going to lie, I have been hungry a couple times prior to the time I am suppose to eat.. So I drink Green tea! Nothing in it, just plain Green Tea! I use Zen and it really helps me, also it helps cleanse and take away bloating!




Day 2 today went really well! It was easier than yesterday, and I am enjoying my meals, and my workouts! I love that you still are lifting weights, but are also incorporating your own body weight into your exercises! I got my water in ... YES the whole GALLON.. with the help of another chugging contest!!! ;)
I already feel less bloated and like I can really tell when I am actually hungry vs emotional hunger!


 I am going to bed and ready to take on another day... another day closer to reaching my ULTIMATE goals!! WOO HOO!! Oh p.s. Although I would love to lose 5 pounds, I also understand the scale is not everything! I will be happy with more definition! :) Good night and get ready for a yummy recipe to be posted tomorrow!!

**HELP WANTED**- HEALTH AND FITNESS COACH WORK FROM HOME!

People are always asking me what I have done to have my weight loss transformation.. So it's time to share! I joined a Beach body challenge group right after having my second child and I was completely miserable with myself.. my energy was low, I was always tired, and I couldn't stand to look at myself in the mirror.. It's sad when you cannot even stand to be around your husband in less than pants and a long sleeve.  But I knew I had to do something, or I would never be happy.  So getting into this challenge was the best thing I ever did! I started with Insanity (YES STARTED LOL) and drinking Shakeology every day! Within 2 weeks, my energy was increasing, I was less bloated, and my cravings were going away! Literally, my shakes were my new "Miracle Shakes"! I have never been a veggie person, so to have all the dense nutrition my body was asking me for all this time was loving me!

The left side of the picture is me on day 1 of Insanity and Shakeology... 1 year later, here I am, in the best shape of my life and full of energy! I am fueling my body with exactly what it needs, and that is a huge issue with people reaching their health and fitness goals.. Nutrition is 80% of your weight loss so if you do not fuel your body properly, those results will be set back.

So while still on my journey, I decided I LOVE these challenge groups and it just gives me so much motivation and support that I want to help people also with their own journey! As a nurse also, I love helping people.. I think it is truly why I was put on this earth.. God creates us all a certain way, and this was my calling.. I just love hearing every day about someone getting a step closer to happiness and their goals, or that they were inspired by my motivational post on face book or Instagram..  So here I am today, a beach body coach.. And something a little more... After helping lots of people reach their health and fitness goals, I have been able to rank advance to diamond, and this past year, I made it to 5 star Elite, which is the top 1% of all beach body coaches in the entire company which holds more than 140,000 coaches!  This only gives me more energy to keep going and help even more people!

WHAT DO I DO AS A BEACH BODY COACH?!
So this is what I do.. I work from home, online, on face book, and other social medias that I choose to do, and run challenge groups on face book (closed groups) so I can coach 1:1 with my challengers to give them tips, recipes, support, motivation, and accountability to help them reach their overall health and fitness goals!  I make my own hours, I am my own boss and answer to NO ONE but myself (and husband of course haha), and I am able to earn an income for my family! What is great about me coaching, is I have been able to hold myself accountable for maintaining my own health and well being because I know I am now a role model for people and have to practice what I preach! It has kept me totally on track and I love that feeling of having self control for once in my life!


I also do get to travel as a beach body coach! Yes, with my family too! Next month, we are going on a cruise with the company which is paid for by beach body! My hubby and I now get to go on our 5 year anniversary that we wanted without feeling financial unstable! In June, I will be going with a few friends to Vegas for our huge Summit training! It just feels unreal to have this opportunity that a year ago, I thought I could never achieve.. I am just a normal mom, with two boys, working as a nurse, and just have a passion for health and fitness!

If I wouldn't have taken this step, I cannot imagine where I would be right now. It has totally changed my life.. and what else that has changed my life is the amazing coaches I have on my team! They either have a passion for health and fitness and never used the workouts or drink Shakeology prior to starting but once they started, they couldn't let go.. I have coaches who were at one time in my challenge groups and got amazing results and here they are today leading their own teams, and I have coaches who sign up with me to keep themselves accountable for their own goals but like to be a role model for others and share their journey!

Guilt Free Protein Chocolate Truffles

GUILT FREE PROTEIN CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES

Filling Ingredients

1/4 cup Chocolate Protein Powder ( I use Shakeology)

2 tbsp Almond Flour

1 heaping tbsp Cashew, Almond, Hazelnut, or Natural Peanut Butter (depending on your preference)
1/8 cup Raw Cocoa Powder

1/4 cup Coconut or Almond Milk

Coating Ingredients

3-4 squares of 100% Bakers Unsweetened Cocoa Chocolate Bar

1 square White Chocolate (optional, but great for decoration)


Directions

Mix all of the filling ingredients in a big bowl. Make sure to add what addition you prefer for the batter. If you like Nutella, for example, use hazelnut butter and a really chocolatey protein powder such as Shakeology. 

Once you achieve the right texture, shape the batter into eight balls and set them aside. Remember that if your batter is too sticky to shape, you should add a bit more cocoa powder. If it's too dry or crumbly, add a bit more milk.

Melt your dark chocolate by sticking it in the microwave or, if you're feeling fancy, melt it in a glass bowl on top of a pot of boiling water.

When your dark chocolate has melted, dunk the balls in them and transfer them to a plate or chopping board that's covered in foil or baking paper. This will help prevent the balls from sticking when you unmold them.

Finally, top your truffles with melted white chocolate, chopped nuts, chocolate flakes, or coconut flakes!

Transformation SHAKEOLOGY

Here is Katie.. we went to elementary school and middle school together, but never kept in touch after me moving away from the area. Although we became friends on face book, never really spoke until she saw that I was coaching and became interested with Beach body!  I am so excited for Katie to share her story with you all! This is what is so special about Katie's story... Its not just weight loss.... this is where the health benefits come into play!!

I had been recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, basically meaning my metabolism wasn't working. I would fall asleep if I sat still to long, and barely had energy to do anything let alone workout. Normal levels are between 3 and 0.3, mine were at 15. My Dr. Got me on synthroid but I new I needed to make a lot more changes if I was going to get better.
  That's when I contacted Deidra, about shakeology. I knew that better nutrition was going to be the key to feeling better so I started in my first challenge group to learn better eating habits. In that first group I just focused on clean eating and SHAKEOLOGY, and by the end of the 30 days I had lost 13 lbs, but most importantly my thyroid levels went from a 15 to a 1.5. My Dr. was shocked at my progress, and so was I. The second month I began to workout to BRAZIL BUTT LIFT everyday and by the beginning of this year I was ready for a new challenges. I am now 1 month into P90X3 and lost 10 lbs 8 inches this past month. Total in the last 90 days I have lost 35lbs and 24 inches! I am still a work in progress but I am loving the process.

  What I love most about shakeology is how it fills nutritional gaps. I have been a vegetarian since I was nine, so I tend to lack iron and protein. With shakeology I am finally getting balanced nutrition. And it is quick and easy which is a major bonus between working 2 jobs. I feel amazing now and am so happy to have my health back.

I am so happy that Katie and I had reconnected! It was definitely a blessing not only to allow her to have an awesome transformation, but also gain a great friendship!

Pineapple Chicken Stir Fry

Healthy Pineapple Chicken Stir-Fry

For the Marinade:

2 teaspoon reduced-sodium soy sauce or Liquid Braggs Amino (found in the organic section)

2 teaspoon rice vinegar

1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger


Ingredients:
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes

1 tbsp EVOO

2 cups cubed assorted colors bell peppers (1/2-inch cubes)

½ tsp crushed red pepper (optional or to taste)

1 cup fresh pineapple chunks

¼ chopped onion

½ cup fresh bella mushrooms

cilantro leaves (for garnish)


For the Sauce:

2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

6 tablespoons unsweetened pineapple juice

2 teaspoon rice vinegar

3 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce or Braggs Liquid Aminos

3 tablespoons cornstarch

3 garlic cloves, minced


Directions:

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar and ginger. Pour the marinade into a sealable bag and add the cubed chicken. Seal and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.


In a separate bowl, mix together the ingredients for the sauce. Set aside.


In a Large deep pan, add EVOO over medium high heat. Add bell peppers to pan and cook for 2-3 min.  Add pineapple and stir fry for 1 minute.  Add onions and mushrooms and stir fry for another minute.  Remove from pan and set aside in a large bowl.


Add the marinated chicken into the deep pan, until cooked thoroughly.  Add cooked veggies and stir for 1 minute.


Stir in the sauce mixture again and pour into pan with chicken and veggies and bring to a boil. Turn down to low and cook until sauce thickens.



Serve over a brown rice and enjoy!!
